Quick answer

What is the best Morocco tour for travelers from Canada?

For most Canadians, a 10 to 15-day private tour starting in Casablanca is the best fit, because Air Canada and Royal Air Maroc fly nonstop from Montreal to Casablanca in about 8 hours. Camel Ride Trips, a local team from Rissani near Merzouga, recommends the 10-day Grand Tour, the 12-day luxury desert tour or the 15-day Amazing Morocco tour. Canadian citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days, and our team can guide you in English or French.

Flying to Morocco from Canada

Montreal has nonstop flights to Casablanca with Air Canada and Royal Air Maroc, in about 8 hours. From Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and other Canadian cities, you can connect through Montreal or a European hub.

Most flights from Canada arrive in the morning after an overnight flight, so we plan a gentle first day: your driver meets you at arrivals in Casablanca and the first afternoon stays light. You can also fly into Marrakech and out of Casablanca.

Entry requirements for Canadians

Canadian passport holders do not need a visa to visit Morocco as tourists for up to 90 days. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the date you leave Morocco. Rules can change, so always check the Government of Canada's travel advice for Morocco before you go.

Tours in English or in French

Many of our Canadian guests come from Quebec. All our drivers speak English, and we can match you with a French-speaking driver-guide, such as Ibrahim, who speaks French, Spanish and English. Just tell us your preferred language when you plan your trip.

A winter escape to the sun

Morocco is one of the easiest sunny escapes from a Canadian winter. From December to February, days in Marrakech and the south are usually mild and sunny. Nights in the Sahara are cold, close to freezing, but desert camps provide thick blankets, and the starry sky is at its clearest.

Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) are the most comfortable seasons overall. Read our guide to the best time to visit the Sahara.

How long to stay

Because of the long flight, we recommend at least 10 days. The 10-day Grand Tour covers the imperial cities, the Sahara and Marrakech; the 12-day luxury desert tour adds Chefchaouen and Essaouira; and the 15-day Amazing Morocco tour is the most complete, with two nights in most places.

Every tour is available in three levels: Basic (clean 2–3 star hotels), Mid-Range (3–4 star hotels and traditional riads) and Luxury (4–5 star hotels, boutique riads and a luxury desert tent with its own bathroom).

To book, you pay a 20% deposit, with free cancellation up to 11 days before your tour. See our booking terms.

Money and staying connected

  • The currency is the Moroccan dirham (MAD). Cards work in most hotels and larger restaurants, but carry cash for souks, cafés and tips.
  • Canadian bank cards work at most Moroccan ATMs; tell your bank before you travel.
  • Local SIM cards and eSIMs are easy to get, and we stay in touch with you on WhatsApp during the whole tour.
