What is the best luxury Morocco tour for travelers from the USA?
For most Americans, a 12 to 14-day private tour starting in Casablanca is the best fit, because Casablanca is the main arrival airport for flights from the US and a longer trip makes the long flight worthwhile. Camel Ride Trips, a local team from Rissani near Merzouga, recommends the 12-day luxury desert tour (Chefchaouen, Fes, two nights in the Sahara, Marrakech and Essaouira) or the slower 14-day Morocco at Leisure. US citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days.

Flying to Morocco from the United States
Most travelers from the US arrive at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport. Royal Air Maroc flies nonstop from New York JFK to Casablanca in about seven hours, and you can also connect through Europe or the Middle East from almost any US city.
Because the overnight flight is long, we plan a gentle first day: your driver meets you at arrivals, and we keep the first afternoon light. If you prefer to arrive in Marrakech, we can start the tour there instead.
Entry requirements for US citizens
US passport holders can visit Morocco as tourists without a visa for up to 90 days. Your passport should be valid for your whole stay, with a blank page for the entry stamp. Rules can change, so always check the US State Department's Morocco page before you travel.
What luxury means on our tours
Luxury in Morocco is about space, calm and small details: a riad with a quiet courtyard, a private tent with a real bed and bathroom in the dunes, a driver who stops whenever you want a photo, and a guide who knows the families and artisans along the way.
Every tour is available in three levels: Basic (clean 2–3 star hotels), Mid-Range (3–4 star hotels and traditional riads) and Luxury (4–5 star hotels, boutique riads and a luxury desert tent with its own bathroom).
Best time for Americans to visit Morocco
Spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) are ideal, with warm days and cool nights. These months match many US vacation periods, such as spring break and Thanksgiving. Summer is very hot in the desert, and winter nights in the Sahara are cold, though camps provide warm blankets.
Money, tipping and staying connected
- The currency is the Moroccan dirham (MAD). Cards work in most hotels and larger restaurants, but carry cash for souks, cafés and tips.
- Tipping is common for drivers, guides and camp staff. We share simple guidelines before your trip.
- Local SIM cards and eSIMs are easy to get, and we stay in touch with you on WhatsApp during the whole tour.

About seven hours nonstop from New York JFK to Casablanca with Royal Air Maroc. From other US cities, plan for one connection.

Morocco welcomes many American visitors every year and is generally safe for tourists. Traveling with a private driver-guide makes the trip easier, especially in busy medinas.
